ON MY BED

Cat, who lives next door, spends her days on my bed. She silently arrives in the morning after her humans have left for work; she leaves in the afternoons before they return. Timeshare in its original form.

WORK IN PROGRESS

Portrait of an African Grey, quite unfinished, and a new print for Sway, titled STARLING, which may or may not make it for Winter 2012. Who knows.

CHINABIRDS

Two paintings on my easel; both for Kamersvol Geskenke, which happens at Lourensford in Somerset West at the end of this month. Many moons ago, I used to sell embroidered clothes at Magnolia Dell in Pretoria, and had a great time. Kamersvol is a new incarnation of exactly that kind of market; I hope to have a great time once again. Selling paintings this time, at a stand called Ace & Paisley General Dealers.

RENOSTERVELD

Two colour tee shirt print for Sway.

PAISLEY

Paisley as seen through the stylus of my new graphics tablet.

SWANS AND GNOMES

are welcome in my garden. The opal basil did not make it through winter, though, and has been replaced with some hardy succulents which, it is hoped, may just make it through the coming summer. Realism sets in.

DRAWING BOARD

This drawing board, now a terrifically old-fashioned item, was bought at an auction still in its original packaging; very seventies, pipe-smoking Cliff Richard lookalikes and all. What a find!

FLOOR TILES

Beautiful tiles adorn the entrance of a Woodstock art gallery, previously a pharmacy, reminding one of floors in Havana. Not that one has been to Havana, but one has a book about Havanese floor tiles, and one has seen movies about life over there.

WOODSTOCK SIGN WRITER

In Woodstock yesterday I met Celestin, who came to Cape Town from DRC about four years ago, while he was painting pictures on a new shop front. Quite cool, I thought.
